Lukkari-hanke koulutielle herättämässä

Abstract

Opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin kokemuksia Lukkari-hankkeesta. Lukkari-hankkeen avulla puututaan 7.-9. -luokkalaisten oppilaiden koulupoissaoloihin ja myöhästymisiin. Varhaisella puuttumisella pyritään ehkäisemään nuorten syrjäytymisriskiä.

Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys koostui nuoren, koulun ja syrjäytymisen käsitteiden määrittelystä sekä Lukkari-hankkeen toimintamallin tarkasta kuvauksesta.

Tutkimusmenetelmänä oli laadullinen sisällönanalyysi. Tutkimusta varten haastateltiin Seinäjoen alueen yläkoulujen rehtoreita ja kuraattoreita sekä hankkeen kahta työntekijää. Haastattelut toteutettiin teemahaastatteluina syksyn 2011 ja alkutalven 2012 aikana.

Tutkimuksen tuloksista selvisi, että Lukkari-hanketta arvostettiin koulujen rehtoreiden ja kuraattoreiden parissa suuresti. Hanke oli auttanut nuoria jatkamaan koulunkäyntiään tuetusti tai omatoimisesti. Hyviksi toimintamalleiksi koettiin nuoren noutaminen kouluun, keskustelut, nuoren huomioiminen yksilönä, nopea reagointi poissaoloihin ja myöhästelyihin sekä ajankäytön hallinnan kartoittaminen. Tärkeimpänä hankkeen etuna nähtiin toimintamallin selkeys ja johdonmukainen eteneminen.

Osa nuorista tarvitsee koulunkäyntinsä jatkamiseen erityistä tukea. Hankkeen avulla heidän koulunkäyntinsä mahdollistui.

The thesis examined the experiences of the Lukkari project. The aim of the project is to address the school absences and delays in school of the students in forms 7-9. Early intervention aims at preventing the risk of social exclusion among young people.

The theoretical frame consisted of the definition of the terms youth, school and social exclusion. The Lukkari project was described carefully.

The research method applied was a qualitative contents analysis. The headmasters and the social workers in Seinäjoki region secondary schools, as well as the two workers of the project were interviewed for the study. The thematic interviews were carried out during autumn 2011 and early winter 2012.

The results indicate that the Lukkari project was highly respected by the headmasters and the social workers of the schools. The project had helped students to stay on at school either supported or by themselves. Good operational models seemed to be taking the student to school by the worker, conversations, giving the student attention as an individual, rapid response to school absenteeism and latenesses as well as surveying the student´s time management. The main advantage of the project seemed to be the clarity of the operational model and its coherent progression.

Some young people need special support in order to cope at school. With the assistance offered by the project they managed to attend school.
