Tiivistelmä
Syftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka framställningen av maskulinitet i en reklamfilm, samt undersöka regissörens vision.
Arbetet består av en kvalitativ intervju med reklamens regissör och en semiotisk analys av rågbrödsreklamen ”Kova kuin elämä”. I arbetet utreds hur maskulinitet och myter kommer i uttryck. En semiotisk analys lämpar sig bäst eftersom den undersöker tecken, saker av betydelse för en person och vilka associationer (konnotationer) tecken bildar.
Resultaten av intervjun och analysen tyder på att det centrala i reklamen är maskulinitet och myten om den finska ”sisun”. Reklamen kopplar den mytiska betydelsen till rågbrödet med hjälp av tecken.
Reklamen uppfattas bäst av finländare, tolkning av tecken är kopplad till mottagarens kulturella bakgrund och i reklamen finns tecken och element som associeras med det finska. Den visuella stilen är inspirerad av filmen ”Kahdeksan surmanluotia”. Reklamen anspelar på humor, ironi och drama The purpose of this paper is to investigate the production of masculinity in one television advertisement and examine the director's vision.
The work consists of a qualitative interview with the director and a semiotic analysis of the rye bread advertisement ”Kova kuin elämä”. This work study how masculinity and myths are expressed. A semiotic analysis is the most appropriate for the study as it examines signs, things of importance to a person and what associations (connotations) signs form.
The results of the interview and the analysis suggests that the essence of the advertisement is masculinity and the myth of the Finnish "sisu". It links the mythical significance to the rye bread by various signs.
This advertisement is best perceived by Finnish people, because the interpretation of the sign is connected to the recipient's cultural background and the advertisement use signs and elements associated with the Finnish. The visual style is inspired by the movie ”Kahdeksan surmanluotia”. This advertisement plays on humor, irony and drama.
