The objectives of this thesis were to examine Finnish women entrepreneur motiva-tions, the underlying factors that motivated them to become entrepreneurs, why they decided to start their own business. To find out the challenges or obstacles they face in their business and the support they need to improve in their businesses. Finnish women who own and manages their business were interviewed based on their motivating fac-tors and the result of the interview was transcribed, coded, converted into theme, ana-lysed, and interpreted.
The theoretical research of this thesis began with the definition of entrepreneurship, entrepreneur, Finnish women entrepreneurs, motivation, entrepreneurial motivation, pull-push, or opportunity-necessity driven motivation and women entrepreneurial mo-tivation. This is a qualitative research; the source material was collected from existing literature through books, articles, websites, journal, and interview questions was de-signed for the Finnish women entrepreneurs that own and manage their business in Finland. The interview was carried out through face-to-face and email interview method.
The result the researcher got from this research is that Finnish women entrepreneurs were pulled towards entrepreneurship. they did not become entrepreneurs because of survival, their entrepreneurship is because of their choice and desires seeking for greater or higher freedom, flexible working schedules, autonomy, passion, hobbies and even recognition. Their motivation was triggered into increasing their independence and freedom therefore, in conclusion, Finnish women entrepreneurial motivation are opportunity driven.
