Tiivistelmä
Community is very important as it provides a basis for most volunteer-based organisations. This is a product-based thesis with the aim of developing a framework for community building and engagement in national teams of organisation X. The final product will be handed out as a supporting tool for community leaders and coordinators to build local teams after teams are launched.
There are three main purposes for this report; to serve as a guide for the HR department of organisation X in monitoring community building in national teams, to guide community coordinators to build local teams in their respective countries and to give examples on how volunteers can be engaged in the communities after they join.
In this report, there are two main components. The first component introduces the topic, the theoretical part, the process of obtaining the information, the process of developing the guide and as well as discusses the results and personal evaluation.
The second component contains a sample guide. Interviews are conducted with the core members as well as questionnaires to get an understanding of expectations.
The thesis process started in autumn 2020 with community building and engagement literature reading, observation, active participation and research. The process was completed during spring of 2021.
