COVID-19 Impact on the IT Industry in Finland

Abstract

The idea of this thesis is to research how the IT industry in Finland is coping with the challenges of the pandemic. The research will be based on questioning IT specialists of various profiles, studying the publications on the related topics and possibly interviewing several IT business owners. The objective is to figure out the impact of the force majeure circumstances on the IT industry as well as the best working strategies to decrease the possible losses. The contents of the thesis will include research on how COVID-19 is influencing the IT industry on three levels: sector, company and personal. It will refer to both financial fluctuations and corporate culture measures. The work will also provide an analysis analysis of the virus influence on IT industry compared to the other industries. This kind of research will provide a basis for the risk management strategies in the future in case any similar situations ever take place again.
