Varhaiskasvatuksen opettajat puolestaan olivat sitoutuneita kohtelemaan vanhempia yksilöinä, joilla on asiantuntemusta. He pitävät myös tehokasta ja osallistavaa viestintää tärkeänä. The goal of our thesis is to research how well parents with different cultural and language backgrounds were involved in daycare. This involved looking into communication between parents and daycare workers, how parents feel they’re being listened to, and how
workers see and apply opportunities for the parents’ involvement. The involvement of
parents in daycare has a positive impact on the children’s learning, and the parents par ticipation is reliant on the possibilities the daycare provides. The research was conducted in a daycare in Raisio. We interviewed both parents and daycare workers to ensue enough information on the subject. The timeframe for the research ran from December 2020 to May 2021. Due to current difficult times with the contagious virus, the possibilities of creating and upholding the parents‘ involvement in the daycare were unfortunately limited at the time this research was conducted, but despite this the parents interviewed appeared largely satisfied with their involvement as well as communication with the daycare. In turn the iterviewed staff were committed to treating parents as individuals with their own expertise and saw effective and involving communication with parents as a high priority.
