Outsourcing company’s support functions provide a way for the company to keep its focus on the company’s own core business, gain savings and find the most qualified professional to manage the outsourced function. Outsourcing can also smooth out the way for a company that is entering to new business area as it will allow company to work with leaner organization.
This thesis introduces a model where an existing EU based company establishes up a new company in Finland and the company financials functions are outsourced to a local accounting company. Company establishment in Finland is a straightforward process and thesis contains basic set-up information, introduction to governmental online channels for company establishment and other support materials. Thesis final product is a complete step-by-step guideline for a company that is entering Finland with plans to use outsourced financials.
Accounting business in Finland is spread between few larger players and a big number of smaller companies. Business area is tightly connected to authorization model provided by Association of Finnish Accounting Firms (Taloushallintoliitto) that currently has more than 900 member companies in Finland. This thesis uses the scope of authorized companies.
Thesis theoretical background comes from different angles of outsourcing, its benefits, and potential risks. Sources for the thesis are mainly online materials. To find out more about the day-to-day accounting business and its challenges with scenarios mentioned above, I have interviewed two (2) business experts who provided their insights and experiences.
Interviews provide more concrete daily information to the thesis product.
Thesis general approach is pragmatic, and I have also used my own expertise from co-operation with accounting companies. Thesis provides suggestions of how the accounting services are procured, managed, and further developed.
