Vanhemmat uuden edessä: vinkit ja linkit lihastautia sairastavan lapsen vanhemmille

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa esite lihastautia sairastavan lapsen vanhemmille siihen hetkeen, kun lapsi saa diagnoosin lihastaudista. Työn tavoitteena oli tuoda esiin paikkoja, joista saa tietoa lihassairauksista ja niihin liittyvistä tuista ja näin ollen helpottaa vanhempien tiedon ja tuen etsintää uuden elämänvaiheen alkaessa. Esite on suunnattu perheille mutta terveydenhuollon ammattilaiset voivat käyttää esitettä apunaan perheen ohjauksessa. Työn tilaajana toimii Lihastautiliitto Ry. Työn toteutustavaksi valittiin toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö. Aihe rajattiin koskemaan lapsia ja lapsiperheitä. Teoreettisessa viitekehyksessä keskityttiin muutamiin lapsilla ilmeneviin lihastauteihin sekä niiden hoitoon ja diagnosointiin. Osa lihastaudeista johtaa lapsen menehtymiseen, jonka vuoksi työhön otettiin pieneksi osaksi myös lapsen saattohoito. Diagnoosin saamiseen liittyy ensitieto ja sen antaminen, jonka vuoksi työssä on käyty ensitiedon teoriaa läpi. Esitettä varten keskusteltiin lihastautia sairastavan lapsen vanhempien kanssa ja näiden keskustelujen pohjalta myös teoreettinen viitekehys sai mukaansa vertaistuen osuuden. Lihastautia sairastavan lapsen vanhempien toiveet ja kokemukset diagnoosin saamisen hetkellä ovat olleet tärkeä osa esitteen sisällön rakentumista. Tilaaja oli myös tärkeässä roolissa esitteen sisällön tuottamisessa, jotta sinne saatiin mukaan ajantasaisia tietoja. Tilaajan mielestä lopputuloksesta tuli hyvä ja esite koettiin tarpeelliseksi. Erityistä kiitosta sai perheiden osallistaminen esitteen tekoon.

The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to produce a brochure for the parents of a child with muscular disease when the child is diagnosed with muscular disease. The aim of the work was to highlight places where information on muscle diseases and related subsidies can be obtained and thus facilitate the search for parental information and support at the start of a new stage of life. The brochure is aimed at families, but healthcare professionals can use the brochure to help guide the family. The work is commissioned by The Finnish Neuromuscular Disorders Association. A practise based thesis was chosen as the method of implementing the work. The topic was limited to children and families. The theoretical framework focused on a few muscle diseases in children, as well as their treatment and diagnosis. Some muscle diseases lead to the death of a child, which is why the child's palliative care was also included in the work. Getting a diagnosis involves initial information and giving it, which is why the theory of initial information has been reviewed. The brochure was based on discussions with the parents of a child with muscular disease, and because of these discussions, the theoretical framework also received a short base of peer support. The wishes and experiences of the parents of a child with muscle disease at the time of receiving a diagnosis have been an important part of building the contents of the brochure. The commissioner also played an important role in producing the contents of the brochure in order to include up-to-date information. According to the commissioner, the end result was good and the brochure is necessary. Special praise was given to the involvement of families in the making of the brochure.
