Jigin asennuksen tunnistamiseen aluksi kokeiltiin mekaanista rajakytkintä. Se osoittautui olevan koneen tiellä, joten se vaihdettiin induktiiviseen anturiin. Myös koneeseen ruuveja syöttävään tärymaljaan päätettiin lisätä induktiivinen anturi pysäyttämään malja, ettei se puskisi ruuveja maljasta ulos, syöttökanavan ollessa täynnä.
Riskien arviointi ja käyttöohjeiden tekeminen onnistui ongelmitta. Hitsaussolun ongelmat kestivät vaihtelevia aikoja ja niiden ratkaisut vaihtelivat yksinkertaisesta pitkäaikaisiin. Kokoonpanokoneen anturien asennus onnistui suurimmaksi osaksi hyvin. Mekaanisen rajakytkimen teline esti konetta toimimasta, mutta samaa telineen jalustaa voitiin käyttää korvaavan induktiivisen anturin telineessä. This thesis was commissioned by Sormat Oy. The purpose of this thesis was to first perform the tasks related to the deployment of a robotic welding cell and secondly the purpose was to upgrade an assembly machine with new sensors so it could be operated by a robot in the future.
A risk assessment was performed on the welding cell and a user manual was made. The welding electrode was changed to a stronger one and the welding times and current was tweaked to improve the quality of the product. The vibratory bowl that feeds parts to the cell had problems with blockages. Two out of three of these problems were solved. In the planning of upgrading the assembly machine, first the problems were assessed. A robot would not know if it had placed the parts in the jig properly. For this problem machine vision was considered but ultimately a conclusion was reached that it would be easier and cheaper to modify the jigs so the robot could place the parts in them reliably. The assembly would not always drop from the jig when they were supposed to due to the parts sometimes being undersized. Another problem was that the jig would not always rotate back to the proper orientation after dropping a completed assembly. A photoelectric sensor was installed in the chute leading from where the ready assemblies are dropped to boxes. It would detect the assembly if it had dropped from the jig as intended. A mechanical limit switch was tried to be used in detecting the orientation of the jig, but it turned out to be in the way of the machine’s mechanism and prevented it from being used so the switch was changed for an inductive sensor. An inductive sensor was also installed to a vibratory bowl, so it would not push screws out when the feeding channel was full.
The risk assessment and user manual succeeded without trouble. The welding cell’s problems lasted variable times and their solutions ranged from simple to very complicated. The installation of sensors succeeded well, except for the limit switch.
