Virtsarakon katetrointi : opetusvideo ja ohjeistus

Abstract

Tässä opinnäytetyössä kuvataan, miten virtsakatetri asetetaan potilaalle aseptisesti sekä mitä riskejä katetroimiseen liittyy. Aihepiiri rajattiin kerta-, toisto- ja kestokatetrointiin aikuisilla mies- ja naispotilailla. Opinnäytetyössä ei käsitelty suprapubisen kystostooman eli vatsanpeitteiden läpi asetettavan virtsakatetrin asettamista. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa informatiivinen ja selkeä opetusvideo virtsarakon aseptisesta ja turvallisesta katetroimisesta. Videon tavoitteena on parantaa opiskelijoiden oppimista sekä tarjota heille päivitettyä oppimateriaalia. Opinnäytetyössä etsittiin vastauksia siihen, mitä asioita tulee ottaa huomioon suoritettaessa virtsarakon katetrointia. Tämä opinnäytetyö myös osoittaa aseptiikan ja huolellisen valmistautumisen merkitystä ennen toimenpidettä ja sen aikana.

Tässä opinnäytetyössä käytetty teoriatieto kerättiin kirjallisuuskatsauksen avulla. Avaintekijät ja tärkeimmät kohdat eriteltiin materiaalista ja huolellisen tarkastelun jälkeen nämä asiat siirrettiin käytännön esimerkiksi videolle. Tilaajan toiveita selvitettiin sähköpostikeskustelun avulla. Nämä toiveet toimivat pohjana käsikirjoitukselle. Keskeneräinen video lähetettiin tilaajalle kommenttien ja kehitysehdotusten saamiseksi. Valmis video luovutettiin tilaajalle käyttöä varten.

Tämän opinnäytetyön tekijät huomasivat harjoitteluissaan, että aseptiikan noudattamisessa on eroja toimipaikkojen ja työntekijöidenkin välillä. Opinnäytetyön tekijät myös halusivat valmistuneen opetusvideon avulla olla yhtenäistämässä katetrointimenetelmiä ja näin olla vaikuttamassa potilasturvallisuuteen.

This thesis describes how the urinary bladder is catheterized aseptically and what are the risks that may occur when a patient is catheterized. The subject was limited to short term and indwelling catheterization for adult male and female patients. The thesis did not process the insertion of suprapubic cystostomy. The purpose of the thesis was to produce an informative and clear educational video about safe and aseptic urinary catheterization. The objective of the video was to enhance the learning of students and provide them with updated learning material. The thesis looks for answer to what kind of factors needs to be taken care of when performing a urinary catheterization. The thesis also shows the importance of aseptic methods and careful preparation before and during the procedure.

The information for the thesis was collected by a literature review. Key components and factors from the material were extracted after a critical inspection and then implemented and displayed in the video. The wishes of the commissioner were sorted out by an e-mail interview. The commissioner wishes for the video worked as a base for the rough manuscript that was made at first. Along the process, some changes were made to the manuscript, and it became more specific and finally achieved the final form. An incomplete video was sent to the commissioner for comments and suggestions during the process. The ready video was given to the commissioner for use.

When authors of this thesis were accomplishing their clinical practices, they noticed that there were differences in following aseptic methods between workers and organisations. By making the educational video, authors also wanted to do their part in unifying the catheterization methods and improving the patient safety.
