The thesis aimed to provide information to nurses to prevent the risk of sepsis in the postop-erative unit. The purpose of the literature review was to provide relevant information to re-duce the risk of sepsis and prevention of it in the postoperative unit.
The research was done using a literature review method and the articles were used for this study were retrieved from Cinahl and Pubmed. The appropriate article was chosen based on the titles, abstracts, published year and full text which answered the research question. Con-tent analysis was applied. For the selection of the articles that are used for the study, the in-clusion and exclusion criteria were used.
The 10 articles were chosen to be reviewed, after that, it was categorized into the main theme and subcategory. The three main themes: Tracking the patients, diagnosed with sepsis and its treatment and monitoring carefully patients’ early signs of sepsis.
In conclusion during this study, post-operative unit nurses have great responsibility where nurses should play a vital role to detect the signs of sepsis. Tracking the patients to prevent sepsis. Follow evidence-based guidelines and monitoring patients’ early signs of sepsis.
