Tiivistelmä
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems can help achieve efficiency with business processes. Busi-ness processes in today's enterprises achieve efficiency with the help of enterprise resource planning system as well as reduce manual work by ending duplicate data in a company, however when all the data is centralized and available throughout the organization, it is essential to make changes to the Enter-prise Resource Planning system such as improve processes, record data or integrate with other software.

The goal of this thesis was to focus on analysing and determining how the data is used in the Enterprise Resource Planning system and the application of AI and big data to the system is still a process that is constantly being upgraded to improve as well as become the most complete system. In this thesis, the theoretical part focus on analysing the applications of ERP software in businesses today, it is not only for IT professionals as before, but increasingly used by business staff. It used to analyse data specific to each department in the business, such as marketing, sales, etc. In addition, development has also in-creased the need for tools that allow analysis of large and holistic data sets. Therefore, applications can help the decision-making process based on data analysis of the application business to become more oriented. Every business' need for ERP tools depends on how the data is being managed and how you want to analyse it. Therefore, with the application and help of big data and AI, it will make the data anal-ysis process easier, store large amounts of data as well as help businesses operate smoothly.

The main empirical method used in the thesis is qualitative research combined with the content analysis method. Through the results of the interview on the employees who have used ERP software that incor-porates big data as well as the benefits and difficulties that it brings. Besides, a case study on SAP, one of the leaders in business planning software as well as Europe's largest software company has shown integrations for data analysis for different business models and their achievements. Those methods have demonstrated the importance of combining AI and big data and the success it brings in the era of global-ization help businesses operate easier. However, there is no denying that it still has difficulties and chal-lenges of the combining between AI and big data with ERP brings and needs more time to perfect and develop this integration in the future.
