Tulevaisuuden taidemuseon arkkitehtisuunnittelu : case: Sara Hildénin taidemuseon suunnittelukilpailu, Kilpailuehdotus ”Core”

Abstract

Opinnäytetyö käsittelee tulevaisuuden taidemuseon arkkitehtisuunnittelua Sara Hildénin suunnittelukilpailun kilpailuehdotuksen näkökulmasta. Syksyllä 2020 järjestettiin kansainvälinen arkkitehtuurikilpailu museon uudisrakennuksen suunnittelusta, koska tamperelainen vuonna 1969 perustettu Sara Hildénin taidemuseo siirtyy teollishistorialliselle Finlaysonin alueelle. Tämän opinnäytetyön teossa syntyi kilpailuehdotus Core.

Työssä käsitellään museoille ominaisten suunnitteluratkaisujen toimivuutta. Näitä ratkaisuja verrataan kilpailuehdotukseen ja analysoidaan, miten tavoitteet ovat täyttyneet. Analyysissä pohditaan tulevaisuuden museon suunnitte-lua ohjaavia tekijöitä ja miten ne toteutuvat kilpailutyössä.

Opinnäytetyössä kävi ilmi, että suunnittelemalla taidemuseo kaikille soveltuvaksi ja saavutettavaksi mahdollistetaan kulttuuriperinnön ja sivistyksen saatavuus jokaiselle kansalaiselle. Tämä on museon perimmäinen tavoite, vaikka sen käsite onkin taiteen ilmaisumuotojen lisääntyessä uudelleenmuovautunut.

Huomattavaa on rakennuksen identiteetin muodostuminen suhteessa sen ympäristöön. Olennaisinta on, haluaako kohde sulautua jo ennestään rakennetun ympäristön identiteettiin vai jalostaa sitä. Coren tarkoitus on luoda toimintoja jokaiselle alueella liikkuvalle ja tuoda jotain poikkeavaa alueen kaupunkikuvaan.

The thesis focuses to the Art Museum Architecture of the Future from the perspective of the competition proposal of Architectural Competition for the Sara Hildén Art Museum. The Sara Hilden Art Museum in Tampere, founded in 1969, is moving to the industrial-historic area of Finlayson. For this reason, in the autumn of 2020, an international architectural competition was held for the design of the museum’s new building. During the working process of this thesis, a competition proposal named Core was born.

The work explores the functionality of museum-specific design solutions. These solutions are compared to the competition proposal, and they are analysed in terms of meeting the requirements. The analysis considers the factors that will guide the planning of the future museum and how they will be implemented in the competition work.

The thesis shows that by designing an art museum suitable and accessible to everyone, it is possible to make cultural heritage and civilisation accessible to every citizen. This is the ultimate goal of the museum, although its concept has been reshaped as the expression of art has increased.

When forming the identity of the building, it is essential to consider it in relation to its surroundings. The most important thing is whether the goal is to merge the object with the identity of the already built environment or to refine it. The purpose of Core is to create activities for everyone moving in the area and to bring something different to the cityscape.
