Tiivistelmä
The thesis was commissioned by SMEM which is a Moroccan company of gears and mechanics, this was a development project for the lathe machine’s gearbox, I had the pleasure to do the study and the development work as well as the design of this situation as my bachelor’s Thesis by Mr Laalj who is SMEM´s CEO and Mr Zeroual the technical director of SMEM.
The aim of this thesis was to extract the problems existing in the SMEM’s actual lathe machine’s gearbox and explore the possibility to make a new gearbox with new requirements; the commissioner wanted a new design in which all the existing problems were solved.
To reach this goal, I proposed some design ideas and for the most potential idea I developed a mechanism and present its analysis results in this thesis. This project started with background research and followed by the actual gearbox study, a 3D CAD modelling analysis, running finite-element analysis simulation in the ANSYS Workbench, performing a new design which met the requirements, the results were also subject to forces analysis and fem analysis.
This thesis contains all the steps required to come up with a solution that meets the requirements of a lathe gearbox design.
