Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis was to evaluate and find ways to improve information management related to intercompany orders and goods in transit (GIT) in the case organization. The aim was to define how information and knowledge management and Lean principles of continuous improvement can assist the organization to improve their information management with focus on the goods in transit reports.
The data for the research was collected through literature review and two online surveys in the case organization. The first survey was targeted to the users of Goods in transit reports found from the ERP system and second survey to users of reports in the Power BI environment. The data was analysed through qualitative content analysis and presented in past, current and future state descriptions in case organization.
The results suggest that after implementing the GIT reports, the information availability in the case organization increased considerably, but also underlined the issues with information quality. The findings indicate that for the organization to get more value out of the GIT reports, they need to improve information quality through reforming data entry and giving more training to the personnel. Furthermore, it was recommended that the case organization could personalize the GIT reports for different user groups, introduce a channel for employees to report problems and opportunities, and to create a competency center focusing on information management improvement in the organization.
