Effective measures to implement on ships to minimize the risk of contracting infectious diseases

Abstract

This thesis looks into the questions what are effective measures to implement onboard ships to minimise the risk of infectious diseases. Factors such as pathogen characteristics and infection methods are deeply analysed with emphasis on the SARS-CoV-2 virus to understand the impacts of the COVID-19 disease. Real time situation onboard ships has been assessed to provide effective measures and procedures to reduce the risk of introduction and proliferation of the virus within the onboard community.
