Basketball was invented in 1891 by James Naismith, a physical education teacher at the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. in 1936, basketball was included as an official sport in the Berlin Olympics.
Since 1990, with the popularity of the NBA, basketball has become popular in China. Under the conditions of market economy, Chinese basketball also began to go professional. A professional league was started. China Basketball Association (CBA)
The purpose of this study is to study the Guangdong South China Tiger Club in the CBA league. In the Chinese basketball environment, there are 20 professional clubs in the CBA. Guangdong South China Tiger Club was established until now. Through continuous exploration and innovation during its 20 years of business development, it has now become the top basketball club and the first most profitable club in China. Therefore, it is necessary to study Guangdong South China Tiger Basketball Club because it is a representative of professional basketball clubs in China and has great significance to the development of professional basketball clubs in China.
This study uses comparative, survey and interview methods to investigate the market development and operation of Guangdong South China Tiger Club. The business model of Guangdong South China Tiger Club was compared with the management models and strategies of NBA and European professional soccer clubs, Interviewing club management staff by phone and posting questionnaires online.
The study shows that Guangdong South China Tiger Basketball Club has been figuring out and moving forward in its development process for more than 20 years. It has its own unique business model. At the same time, the problems and shortcomings of Guangdong South China Tiger Basketball Club are also presented. Giving advice on development.
