Nukketeatterista Nukkedraamaksi : Nukketeatteri ja soveltava draama vuorovaikutussuhteiden käsittelyssä

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön yhteistyökumppanina toimi Omaiset mielenterveystyön tukena Kanta-Häme ry. Yhteistyö alkoi opintoihin kuuluvassa pääaineprojektissa, jossa toteutettiin mielenterveyskuntoutujien omaisten kanssa nukketeatteriesitys, joka käsitteli omaisten ja hoitohenkilöstön välistä vuorovaikutussuhdetta. Nukketeatterin huomattiin tarjoavan runsaasti mahdollisuuksia vuorovaikutussuhteen käsittelyyn, joita haluttiin tutkia lisää opinnäytetyössä. Tutkimukseen osallistui omaisyhdistyksen yhteistyökumppanina toimivan palvelukodin henkilökuntaa sekä omaisia.

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli laajentaa nukketeatteriprosessi koskettamaan vuorovaikutussuhteen molempia osapuolia ja osoittaa sen vaikuttavat piirteet. Metodista työstettiin opas, joka soveltuu käytettäväksi eri kohderyhmien kanssa. Lisäksi metodista haluttiin saada väline omaisten edunvalvontaan. Työhön vaikuttivat nukketeatterin, soveltavan draaman, käsityön terapeuttisuuden sekä vuorovaikutuksen teoriat. Keskeisiksi nousivat Nonviolent communication –malli, sekä sosiokulttuurisen innostami-sen periaatteet. Metodin rakenne muodostui devising-teatterin ja afrikan mallin pohjalta. Kirjallisuustiedon lisäksi aineistoa tuotettiin laadullisen tutkimuksen keinoin kysely- ja havainnointilomakkeilla. Lomakkeet koskivat toteutettuja ohjauksia, joiden avulla metodia kehitettiin. Työskentelyn myötä nukketeatteriprosessi kehittyi nukkedraamaksi.

Opinnäytetyön tuloksena on syntynyt nukkedraamaopas. Nukkedraama hyödyntää esimerkiksi luovaa kirjoittamista, draamallisia harjoitteita ja käsitöitä. Metodi on todettu toimivaksi mielenterveyskuntoutujien omaisten ja hoitohenkilöstön kanssa. Jatkossa työtä voisi kehittää tutkimalla metodin varioitavuutta esimerkiksi kohderyhmien, painopisteiden ja keston muuttamisen avulla.

This thesis was made in co-operation with Omaiset mielenterveystyön tukena Kanta-Häme ry. (a family association promoting mental health). The co-operation was a continuation to a main subject study project of the authors. In the project, relatives of mental health rehabilitation clients used puppet theater to process their interactive relationship with the nursing staff. The project indicated that puppet theatre offers useful elements to deal with relationships. One of the goals in this thesis was to research those elements in more detail.

As a part of the thesis, a puppet theater project was organized in a mental health rehabilitation center. The participants in this project were staff members and relatives. The main goal was to expand the puppet theater process to involve both parties of the interactive relationship. The aim was also to identify the effective features of puppet theatre. During the research, a guide book about the method was compiled. A further goal was to use the method as a tool for relatives’ trusteeship.

The theoretical background deals with applied drama, therapeutic crafts, interaction and puppet theatre; Nonviolent Communication model and socio-cultural animation receiving most attention. The structure of the method is based on Devising theatre and African method. Further, information was obtained by qualitative research methods, using a questionnaire and observation during the project. In the process, theory was transformed into a concrete method; the puppet theatre became puppet drama.

In the method different forms of art are used together. Tasks include for example creative writing, drama and crafts. The thesis process proved that the method can be used with relatives of mental health rehabilitation clients and nursing staff. The work could continue by testing the method with other target groups, varying the focus and the length of the process.
