FOG-Järjestelmän käyttöönotto : Case Centria ammattikorkeakoulu

Abstract

Julkisorganisaatioiden sekä pk-yritysten tietojärjestelmien hallinta on yleisesti ollut hanka­laa ohjelmistojen kannalta. Tässä opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin sekä toteutettiin yhtä ratkaisua suu­rien tietokonemäärien hallinnointiin, palautukseen sekä varmuuskopiointiin keskitetysti käyttäen jo olemassa olevaa laitteistokantaa sekä verkkoinfrastruktuuria.

Opinnäytetyö an­taa perustan käytetylle teknologialle, jonka jälkeen käytännön osio selven­tää käytettyjä metodeita juuri Centria ammattikorkeakoulun kohdalla. Opinnäytetyön lopul­linen tavoite oli tallentaa helposti käytettävä konfiguraatio FOG-palvelimen pystyttämiseen sekä repli­koimiseen.

Työn lopputuloksena syntynyt palvelin sekä dokumentaatio onnistuivat yli odo­tusten. Cent­ria ammattikorkeakoulu käyttääkin nykyään pääasiallisesti FOG-järjestelmää käyttöjärjes­telmäkuvien levitykseen sekä hallinnointiin.

Public Organizations and small/medium sized enterprises have usually been struggling to control their large information systems and networks. This thesis explored and implemented one spe­cific method of administration and restoration of large quantities of computers at the same time, using the existing network infrastructure and hardware of the organisation.

This thesis gives the foundation for the technology and methods used to implement the FOG system for Centria University of Applied Sciences and a full documen­tation on how to implement FOG system for this specific organisation. The final goal of this thesis was to document a usable configuration to assemble and replicate the FOG server.

The server and documentation which were produced during the thesis work succeeded beyond expectations. After the implementation of the system, Centria University of Applied sciences has used it extensively in the distribution and administration of operating system images.
