Pedagogical documentation is a tool for preschool teachers to use in all the activities in a preschool, while planning, implementing and evaluation of the activities. The preschool teachers can follow the child’s growth, progress of learning with the pedagogical documentation. Documentation can also support and help the communication between family and the preschool. The teachers of Stiftelsen Sedmigradsky preschools feel that they see and hear a lot of what children say and do, but do not always have time, opportunity or the tools to share all the information between other teachers. The purpose of this study is to develop a handbook for pedagogical documentation for the teachers of Stiftelsen Sedmigradsky preschools. The purpose of the handbook is to inspire and give information about pedagogical documentation to the teachers. Another purpose of this study is to increase children’s participation in the pedagogical documentation. The research questions are formulated so that the teachers of Stiftelsen Sedmigradskys experiences and toughts about pedagogical documentation can be used and applied in the plan of action. The theoretical frame consists of pedagogical documentation and children’s participation. Laws and “grounds for the plan for early childhood education” are also included and applied to the theoretical frame. The method of this study is a sort of product development. Focus group interviews gave an insight on the teacher’s thoughts and wishes for the content of the handbook on pedagogical documentation. Results from the group interviews showed that the teachers are interested about this theme, but the lack of time and tools is what makes documentation a challenge. The final product, the handbook on pedagogical documentation and children’s participation to the documentation consists of information about pedagogical documentation and different ways to document, a base for discussion for the teachers and a form of permission for the parents. The product is expected to wake thoughts and inspire the teachers of Stiftelsen Sedmigradsky. The teachers would also use more pedagogical documentation in all activities and involve children in the documentation.
