Polttarit : kehollinen siirtymäriitti maalaustataiteen toteutuksena

Abstract

Polttarit – kehollinen siirtymäriitti maalaustaiteen toteutuksena, on kuvataiteilija Helena R:n opinnäytetyön kirjallinen osuus, joka selostaa syitä Polttarit - kehollinen siirtymäriitti maalaustaiteen keinoin -taidenäyttelyn taustalta. Tämä lopputyön kirjallinen osuus tutkii mm. aikamme siirtymäriittejä, sitä voiko shamanismia redusoida aerobic-videolle, sekä sitä, miten kaikkia näitä edellä mainittuja voi ilmaista maalaustaiteen keinoin kehollisuuden viitekehyksessä. Kirjallisessa osuudessa haetaan esimerkkejä shamaanien maailmasta ja taiteen ja kulttuurihistorian teorioista jäsentämään käsityksiä riiteistä ja tiettyjen asioiden kuvaamisesta maalaustaiteessa. Lisäksi pohditaan elämyksellisyyttä, esityksen tapahtumista tilana sekä performanssitaiteen ja maalaustaiteen yhdistämistä ja perehdytään samalla miljöiden ja värien emotiivisiin vaikutuksiin tunnelman luojina. Lopputyöni kirjallisessa osuudessa päädyn lopputulokseen, että juhlaperinteitä tutkimalla löytää uusia siltoja eri kulttuurien ja aikojen välille. Saavuttamani uuden tiedon valossa todistan, että aerobic-ohjaajat ovat nykyajan shamaaneja ja että siirtymäriitit ovat kehollisia monissa kulttuureissa.

Bachelor party – a bodily transition rite realized by painting, is the written part of artist Helena R’s BA thesis. This part of my BA thesis explains the reasons behind the exhibition Bachelor party – a bodily transition rite realized by painting. In this written part of my final work I study transition rites of our time and I try to find out whether it is possible to reduce shamanism to an aerobic video. Furthermore, I study how all these things can be expressed by art painting in the framework of bodiliness. This written piece takes examples from a shamanistic world and from the theories of art and cultural history to set conceptions about rites and about how certain things are pictured in fine arts. In addition, experientialism, performance happening as a space, and the combining of performance art and painting are viewed in the written part of my final work. At the same time, the role of milieus and colours as creators of an atmosphere is discussed. The theoretical part of my study Bachelor party – a bodily transition rite realized by painting ends up to a conclusion that by researching party traditions it is possible to create new bridges between different cultures and times. With the new knowledge I have accomplished I prove that aerobic directors are the shamans of our present time and that transition rites are bodily in many cultures.
