Sammandrag:
Syfte med examensarbete var att undersöka handhygienens betydelse i Etiopien och få reda på vilka faktorer inverkar på handhygienen där. Studien ingår i organisationen PADET som gör samarbete med Arcadas barnmorskeutbildning. Detta examensarbete är en litteraturstudie med en kvalitativ forskningsmetod och en induktiv ansats. Som teoretisk referensram valdes Madeleine Leininger för hennes teori om kulturrelaterad omsorg och soluppgångsmodellen. Forskningsfrågorna var;
Vilka alla faktorer inverkar på dålig handhygien i Etiopien?
Hur kunde man förbättra handhygien i Etiopien?
Abstract:
The aim with this study was to investigate the importance of hand hygiene in Ethiopia and to learn about factors which affect hand hygiene behavior there. The study is part of the organization PADET that makes cooperation with Arcada. This thesis is a case study with a qualitative research method and an inductive approach. Madeleine Leininger was chosen as a theoretical framework for her theory of culture-related care and sunrise model. The two research questions were:
What are all the factors affecting poor hand hygiene in Ethiopia?
How could they improve hand hygiene in Ethiopia?
The data was collected by Forsberg & Wengströms (2008) method. Data collection resulted in 13 scientific articles. These articles were reviewed carefully and after a critical review different factors and themes were formed. To narrow down the study the problems with HIV and AIDS were excluded. Diarrhea is repeated multiple times because it is strongly associated with hand hygiene. The results show that there are many factors influencing hand hygiene practices and all these factors could be connected with dimensions of Leininger's theory. Elements that influence on hand hygiene practices are; Knowledge, habits, economy and social matters.
