The tourists of today are more and more interested in locally produced wine and food. During the 1990’s a new niche in tourism blossomed – enotourism. Due to the changes in the Finnish alcohol legislation in 1995, enotourism could also enter the Finnish tourism scene. Today there are 25 vineyards in Finland. The majority of these vinyards are located in the south of Finland. The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis is to develop a new product for Archipelago Booking of Finland that involves both Turku archipelago and enotourism. To do this I have interviewed representatives from the different companies to be able to get a better understanding of the services they have to offer. I have used productization as well as two different product development models – a general service development model for the tourism industry and a product development model called the Stage-Gate process. These models include development aspects such as benchmarking, pricing and market segmentation.
As a result of this bachelor’s thesis I have developed a daytrip to the Turku archipelago that takes the participants with a chartered water bus to Tammiluodon Viinitila to enjoy their wine and to Seili island as well as Qvidja castle to learn more of their interesting history.
