Since most people spend their time indoors, there has been increased interest in air pollution concen-trations. Number of very small liquid and solid particles suspended in the air is depending on different factors. But how should be decreased particle number? The field of this work is particulate matter concentration in the indoor and outdoor air.
Measurements were carried out in number concentration. The Indoor-Outdoor correlation was de-termined in order to investigate normative particle number indoors. The aim of this Bachelor`s thesis was comparing results of indoor-outdoor ratio obtained in the measurements under different condi-tions and clarifying reasons impacted on indoor-outdoor correlation. This study aimed to investigate the impact of following factors: mechanical and natural ventilation systems, occupation of premise, presence of open window, presence of fan on the Indoor-Outdoor relationship.
A series of measurements were conducted in two locations. The investigated premises were kitchen in the apartment with natural ventilation system and classroom at the university with mechanical venti-lation system. The study of outdoor air contamination was carried out immediately after measurements indoors under different scenarios.
The difference in results was achieved by different classes of filter, presence of indoor sources, air tightness of the building, the different levels of outdoor PN concentrations, various types of A/C system and the combination of the mentioned factors. The lowest I/O ratio according to the result in the apartment is with open window and switched on fan. When the best result in the classroom is with switched on mechanical ventilation system with filter and open window.
