Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis was to make a compact guidebook for all students interested in service design and for those who work or wish to work in the travel industry. The goal was to make an introduction to the topic in a way that helps people to understand service-dominant logic’s purpose and to inspire them in and outside of the scope of travel industry to examine their take on the subject.
The theory part of this thesis is based on different academic resources such as articles, reports and studies based on the subjects covered. The empiric part of this thesis addresses what the travel industry and service design’s practices are and how they have changed over time. The information in the empiric part is gathered from four interviews held with different experts and consultants from the public sector of the travel industry.
The results of this study show that although service design and service-dominant logic are widely in use in the travel industry, they aren’t recognized enough and there is still a need for development. The main conclusion of this study is that service-dominant logic should be even more highlighted than it already is.
