Abstract
The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis is to describe a new concept, pedagogic charisma, into the fields of directing and teaching. Writers intention is to define on what makes someone pedagogic charismatic, and is it possible to somehow learn to be more pedagogic charismatic. Also, this Bachelor’s thesis presents writers thoughts on what is the meaning to drama instructor to be pedagogic charismatic, and what kind of things one should then possibly master.
In the first main chapter the thesis presents charismas concept, and the three ways to interpret it. According to the first one, charisma is something that springs up as a by-product of media and public image. The second one presents that charisma is something that is given to you as a characteristic quality, something that you either possess or don’t possess. The third one presents that charisma is a way to success, something that you can learn and increase by being aware of the things that makes someone charismatic. None of these interpretations is either right or wrong, but this Bachelor’s thesis leans on the third one and presents that it is possible to learn how to be more charismatic or pedagogic charismatic.
The third chapter of this thesis presents the concept of pedagogic charisma. The chapter covers writers’ thoughts on which and what kind of elements the pedagogic charisma consists. It presents the meaning of expertise and the methods that an expert can use to make the people surround to care and be enthusiastic about the subject. From these methods, this thesis presents motivation, building a trustful environment, and as equipment to these; persuasion and suggestion.
The fourth chapter of this Bachelor’s thesis subscribes the meaning of pedagogic charisma to drama instructor. The chapter provides also a writers own list of what kind of things one should master as a drama instructor to be more pedagogic charismatic.
