Tiivistelmä
The thesis is about planning and designing an automatic ICT monitoring system. The purpose of the project was that the commissioner had a need to develop its ICT monitoring or to find the best solution for the ICT monitoring. This was either in the form of developing the existing systems or acquiring a new system for the purpose. Methods that have been used during the planning process include various forms of analysis such as GAP and SWOT analyze. Other methods used are interviews and strategic literature review to find the right research material and to classify it in a logical way. The main research questions addressed in the work are whether the company needed a new monitoring system or whether it is possible to continue with the systems already in use or it is possible to only make modifications to the existing systems. The work only addresses ICT monitoring and focuses on hardware, software, data, processes, and integrations. The project is delimited so that it does not address things associated with the electricity grid, security, or real estate. The material used were the interviews that were held, internal documents and specifications as well as external material from various sources, including Gartner and Dynatrace. The results are based on these different materials, requirements and on the interviews that were held. The final recommendation was that the company should use Dynatrace as the new ICT monitoring system. Dynatrace has good support for various technologies, is stable and also future proof. Dynatrace is a market leader in ICT monitoring systems. With Dynatrace as the recommended new system for the ICT monitoring, the client has a good base for the ICT monitoring that is both future proof and can be applied for all different types of ICT monitoring.
