Web development has been a growing discipline since the commercialization of the web. It has a profound impact on the traditional business model and a rise in number of enterprises migrating services to online solutions has been seen in the past 10 years. Providing services over web covers larger audience and offloads the customer services to programs. Such an evolution in delivering content has changed how people obtain information in daily life. Web application is one way of providing e-commerce services. Compared to its static counterpart, web application is more dynamic with more user interaction. E-commerce is a business model that uses web application to sell goods. Compared to traditional retail stores, the e-commerce web application is a more cost-effective business solution, and it tends to attract lager group of audience.
In this thesis, an e-commerce web application is developed and deployed for Metatavu. The application was named Metastore, a web-based e-commerce application used for managing digital products and subscription. The development process involves web design, backend and frontend development, and deployment. The application is constructed upon an open-source API implementation called Saleor. In this thesis, technologies used are discussed and the development process is documented. As a result, the application is deployed to cloud to be publicly available.
