Tiivistelmä
The importance of the service industry is increasing over time. In Finland, the service economy is playing an important part in the Finnish gross domestic product (GDP). To reach more profitable economical results from the service industry, methods have been invented to develop and reach a more satisfactory customer experience. These methods are used to try to understand the customer's needs more than the customer itself in some situations. By using a special process, a service provider can reach a service that fits the company's target customer if it is implemented correctly. The service design process is the act of turning abstract ideas into reality.
The objective of this research is to know how tour packages providers design tour packages in Finland and what processes they use. To collect precise data and reach the objective of this research qualitative research methods have been implemented. Qualitative methods such as qualitative secondary data collecting sources like articles, books, journals, and other academic sources. For primary data, a semi-structured in terview with five companies located in Finland has been implemented. A typification analysis process has been followed to analyse the research data.
By the interview results, the author divided the participated companies into two categories. Case type one, who follow the service design process step by step and that consumes time and effort as they are making their new package for the first time but after that, they just have a ready saleable service. Case type two, who see from their work experience that making a ready package following their opinion and knowledge can be a suitable surface to build on it a tour package and that comes with endless package selling work for customizing the package for their customers.
