Tiivistelmä
The objective of the thesis was to conduct market research about a growing trend which is the production of organic wines. To analyse the development of the organic wine business, the author investigated the reasons and motivations behind it.
In order to accomplish this research, the author started by making some background research about different types of wines and trends. Then the writer studied different theoretical features used in the wineries business. Once this part was done, the author conducted qualitative research and interviewed 2 producers and 2 suppliers. After the theoretical part and the research, the author was able to describe its findings and declare the benefits and challenges of an organic production. After this description, a summary was made by the author in order to clarify the research and compare the different features. Last but not least a conclusion was drawn on why wineries become organic.
The results of the research are mainly about an environmental consciousness. This includes the customers’ awareness which explains the increasing demand for organic products.
Wineries tend to become organic by conviction and then start having a gratifying and harmonical feeling with their terroirs. These feelings come from an improvement of the vines and a sense of good conscience.
