This thesis is about the production process of animated films. The aim of the study is to analyze and compare DreamWorks Animation’s and Anima Vitae’s production processes with each other. In the end, I will create a visual figure of Anima Vitae’s production pro-cess.
The subject of the study is limited to computer animated feature films in stereoscopic 3D that were in production in 2011. The study answers the questions what does the produc-tion process of animated films look like, what does DreamWorks Animation’s and Anima Vitae’s production processes look like, and how do they differ from each other.
The two main materials are DreamWorks Animation’s annual report from 2011 and the answers from two qualitative, semi-structured interviews. The thesis is supplemented with books and electronic sources.
The study shows that the production processes at DreamWorks Animation and Anima Vitae aren’t that different from each other. The differences appear when you look at the resources such as budget, employees and time
