Tiivistelmä
Electric vehicles (EVs) will inevitably become the main mean of transportation in the near future, replacing fossil fuel- powered vehicles at the present time. Lithium-ion battery (LiBs) is an indispensable component of EVs. Therefore, the rapid growth of EVs is likely to provoke numerous discarded batteries, which prompts reseachers to find out an effective and sustainable battery recycling process. This thesis is aimed to present the current lithium-ion battery recycling techniques being applied in industrial
scale that focuses on two leading companies, Umicore and Duesenfeld. Besides, the effectiveness of techniques is analysed based on the most recent published studies. The final result of analysis shows that Duesenfeld process brings more promising results in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability.
