dc.description.abstract | The aim of this thesis project was to provide a solid background knowledge on machine vision systems, including important theoretical concepts, components of such systems, and basic concepts of image processing. One main goal of this thesis was to provide a model, some instructions or exercises for future students of Häme University of Applied Sciences. The last two chapters in this thesis examine the real-world implementation of machine vision and how it could potentially be implemented into educational perspectives.
The implementation was conducted in the laboratory of Häme University of Applied Sciences, the Valkeakoski campus, using a Festo station and a Beckhoff PLC for control and a monochrome camera for image processing tasks.
The aim of the thesis was achieved. Literature in the field, journals, science research papers, white papers were used for the theoretical part of the thesis. The author mostly conducted the research using an internet-based research method. A prototype was successfully created for the demonstration of the concept and the programming is attached here as an Appendix. | - |
