Tiivistelmä
This study is based on the experience of Chinese students studying abroad around the world and their true feelings about life abroad. The purpose of the author's study is to be able to summarize the students' practices and problems in various stages of study abroad through real feedback from Chinese students. These studies provide more information to the families of Chinese students who are preparing to study abroad to help them better prepare to study abroad and choose suitable routes.
The theoretical framework of the paper is studied according to what is studying abroad, what are the advantages of studying abroad, what are the preparations for studying abroad, and how to adapt to the new culture during studying abroad. The study includes the preparation of international students, the difficulties and treatment during study, the overall evaluation of study life, the graduation plan, the cost of study abroad and the impact of covid19 on the overseas students.
The research method is a combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. The author used questionnaire to collect feedback from Chinese students in different countries and regions of the world. In this way, we can not only find the common problems of students from the feedback, but also analyze their differences according to countries and regions or different ages and stages of studying abroad. After that, the author conducted interviews with Camford Royal School in China and Haaga-Helia UAS in Finland to help supplement the loopholes in the questionnaire.
After the questionnaire survey and two interviews, we finally got the following results. The purpose and preparation process of studying abroad are similar. They all believe that studying abroad can bring broader job prospects, broaden their horizons, and enrich their personal experience. They also carefully analyze local education resources, safety factors and school rankings when choosing a destination.
During their study abroad, they gave remarkably high evaluations to their schools and teachers. At the same time, it is also agreed that language and self-management skills are the obstacles for them to study abroad. Chinese students' graduation plans focus on returning to China, which varies from country to country. Students have mixed views on the impact of COVID-19, citing financial pressures and changes in teaching methods.
The results of the questionnaire survey were combined with the feedback from Chinese and Finnish educators. The author also summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of Chinese students studying abroad and how to prepare for the future. The ability to use the language and learn western culture is worth paying attention to before and during students' study abroad.
