Teaching of the flute playing to novice children and novice adults

Abstract

This thesis consists of two parts. The emphasis of this thesis lies on the artistic part, which was the Thesis Concert in Martin Church in Turku 25th April 2022. The link to the concert is in the appendix of this thesis. In this written thesis the main psychological differences in teaching children and adults are examined. The author focuses on the subject especially in terms of flute pedagogy.

The objective was to familiarize the author during the thesis process in more depth with both pedagogical topics and learning materials for children and adults in the flute teaching.

As a method of the thesis has been used the familiarization oneself with the source material on the subject and to apply the information to the author's own teaching experiences in flute playing.

The result of the thesis was the author's increased knowledge of pedagogy and knowledge of resources related to flute playing, which his future flute students will also benefit from, since when the level of know-how increases, the level of teaching increases as well.
