Cross-cultural understanding has become an important issue in today’s globalized world in terms of business management, work environment management, customer relationship management as well as human resource management. In a general sense, because of internalization, cross-cultural human resource management is highly used as a strategy by many companies for the development and profitability. But for the company that is established as a non-profit company aimed for the betterment of human beings creating the opportunities for the employees as well as providing excellent customer service, cross cultural understanding and training can be a vital strategy for the human resource development.
The purpose of the study was to analyse the different dimensions of culture to build up a model for the cross-cultural trainings at the workplace as well as to promote training and development. The thesis is based on the theoretical research and the analysis of the case company, Carestep Oy. Hofstede cultural dimensions is the main theory analysed to reach the goal.
