Tapoja toteuttamiselle on useita.
Eräs verkotettujen järjestelmien väyläratkaisuista on CAN (controller area network).
Background of the subject is the clients need to develop a solution for alarm system in the timber crane truck cabin. The machinery directive demands that there must be an indication of the crane transport status. This adds safety to the environment, traffic, and the crane operator as well. The task was to do research work for a product that would indicate visual and audible alarm function at the timber trucks driving cabin. This could be executed in many ways. One solution is to add an additional audiovisual alerting device to the driver’s cabin. In the process was found out that markets for this kind of product are already outdated. Digital integration between the timber truck and its implements is under heavy development and the solution for executing the alert can be found from broader review of the end product.
Modern-day trucks have embedded network systems, which makes modular I/O messaging and error diagnose possible between ECU´s and other devices. One of the network techniques is CAN (controller area network). This network and communication technology can also be utilized over the truck and its implements, such as timber cranes.
The CAN-bus technology has been in use for decades and international engineering societies are actively expanding the capabilities of it. Over the years its data transmission rate and message protocols are improved. The complete implementation of the controller area network needs further development of the interface between the timber crane and truck. The research work promoted the client´s product development in the form of new contacts and clarified the direction of development.
