Sinä riität: opas vanhemmille nuorten murrosiän tilanteiden kohtaamiseen

Abstract

Lapsen tullessa murrosikään vanhemmuus on uusien haasteiden edessä. Vanhemmat tarvitsevat tukea ja vahvistusta omaan rooliinsa ja heille suunnatun tuen tulisi olla helposti saatavilla. Tähän tarpeeseen vastaa tämän opinnäytetyön lopputuloksena valmistunut opas. Opinnäytetyön tutkimuksellisessa osiossa haastateltiin neljää kasvatusalan ammattilaista. Haastattelujen tavoitteena oli selvittää ammattilaisten näkemyksiä niistä haasteista, joita murrosikäisten nuorten vanhemmilla saattaa olla. Ammattilaiset kertoivat haastatteluissa myös vinkkejä tiukkojen tilanteiden varalle. Haastattelut toteutettiin teemahaastattelun menetelmin, ja litteroitu aineisto analysoitiin teemoittelua käyttäen. Työn tietoperustassa tarkasteltiin murrosikää ja murrosiän kehitystehtäviä. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin vanhemmuutta ja niitä muutoksia, joita murrosikäisen lapsen vanhemmuus tuo mukanaan Tutkimusaineiston perusteella ammattilaiset nimesivät vanhemmuuden haastaviksi tilanteiksi kommunikaatioon, kaverisuhteisiin ja kiusaamiseen, päihteisiin sekä mielialaongelmiin liittyviä asioita. Tärkeimpänä vanhemmuuden tukena nähtiin vertaistuen merkitys. Tiukkojen tilanteiden vinkkeinä haastateltavat korostivat keskustelun, avoimuuden ja yhteisten sääntöjen laatimisen merkitystä. Vanhempien aito kiinnostus nuoren elämään nähtiin myös tärkeänä. Opinnäytetyön toiminnallisessa osiossa valmistui opas murrosikäisten nuorten vanhemmille. Oppaan sisältö rakentui haastattelujen pohjalta. Aineiston analyysin tavoitteena oli löytää pääteemat, joista muodostui oppaan runko. Työn tilaaja saa oppaan sähköisessä muodossa, jolloin oppaassa olevien yhteystietojen päivittäminen on helpompaa.

Parenting is faced with new challenges when a child enters puberty. Parents need support and confirmation of their own role. The support should be readily available. This demand is answered by the guide completed as the final result on this thesis. In the research section of this thesis, four education professionals were interviewed. The aim of the interviews was to explore the professionals´ views on the challenges that parents with children in puberty are experiencing. The interviewed professionals also shared tips for tight situations. The interviews were carried out using thematic interview methods and the transcribed material was analyzed using thematization. The theoretical background looked at puberty. In addition, parenting and the changes that puberty brings to parenting were examined and the developmental tasks in puberty. Based on the research material, the professionals named things related to communication, friendships and bullying, substance use and mood swings as the most challenging situations in parenting. The professionals considered peer support the most important support for parenting. As tips for tight situations, the interviewees emphasized the importance of discussion, openness and drawing up common rules. Parents´ genuine interest in the child´s life was also considered important. In the development work section, a guide for parents on pubescents was completed. The content of the guide was built based on the interviews. The goal of the data analysis was to find the main themes that formed the framework for the guide. The commissioner of the thesis receives the guide in electronic format, which makes it easier to update the contact information in the guide.
