Clinical study is one of the important milestones in nursing education in Finland which aimed to prepare students to familiarize themselves with nursing working ethics. Knowing nursing students' experiences on their clinical experiences is essential for improving nursing education and better prepare future student nurses for clinical studies. The aim of this study was to explore nursing students' experiences during clinical study in nursing homes.
Qualitative method was used to obtain data for this study. Semi-structured interview was used to collect information from convenient sample of nursing students. Open-ended questionnaires were prepared to aid in finding solutions. The theoretical framework for this thesis is Patricia Benner's "From Novice to Expert" theory which is also called Benner’s Stages of Clinical Competence.
The result from the study revealed that most of the nursing students who go for their clinical practice face language and communication barriers. This according to the results impacted some of the students not to achieve their expectation during their clinical study however the experiences was generally positive.
