Tiivistelmä
This is a researched based, non-commissioned bachelor’s thesis and purpose is to find rea-sons, ways, knowledge, and experiences why people move abroad for their retirement. It is not so commonly researched subject, especially in terms of senior travel, and wellbeing.
Understanding why and to whom such retirement destinations were created. Their exist-ence, and how they can be developed in the future to better serve the purpose of fulfilling needs of foreign retirees with their service providers.
Emphasis goes for thesis being globally meaningful, but actual group of the study are Finns moving to Spain’s Costa Del Sol that is one of my country’s (Finland) biggest destinations for abroad retirees. There are vast numbers of annual visitors, but focus here is on long-term stay.
Combination of both qualitative and quantitative research methods put into multi-methodological approach and using method triangulation to describe the study. The purpose is a more comprehensive study, and to eliminate deficiencies, and biases, that might come from any type of single research method.
Outcome is clear and better understanding of different retirement possibilities, and what makes people change their place of living (after working age). Another purpose of this re-search is to add well-being, active lifestyle, and life quality, by connecting interrelated pro-fessions, such as psychology and legislation.
Results are shown with texts, statistics, and charts, explaining the discoveries what came from moving into another country for a better life. Well-being and sustainability aspects has been included into every part of the research study and has a small paragraph of its own.
