This thesis was commissioned by Company X which is a Finnish insurance company. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Company X has had a need for widespread use of hybrid working model within their organization. Even after the restrictions regarding the pandemic have been lifted, the hybrid working model has proven to be well-received and it is likely to stay as a part of the organization.
As the hybrid working model is still a rather new addition to many parts of the organization, it calls for more research so it can support the workers in the best possible manner. To provide an investigation of the hybrid working model, the author researched the current development of hybrid and remote working using scientific literature from academic online sources, and research provided by the commissioner. Online sources and the commissioner´s data form the frame of secondary data for the research. The author also had the chance to conduct a questionnaire for the employees and middle management of the commissioning company. The results from these questionnaires form the primary data for the thesis.
Based on the secondary research data, the author was able to better understand the recent developments with the hybrid working model and formulate some key factors to the building of the hybrid working environment. By analysing the secondary data and collecting information from primary data, the author was able to form recommendations based on the findings that were made during the research.
