YouTube is one of the most popular social media platforms people use to watch and share online videos, and it is an excellent opportunity to generate revenue. This thesis aims to present ways video creators can develop their YouTube channels to get more views and subscribers and, as a result, increase their income as light entrepreneurs.
Although there are various ways to generate income through YouTube, this paper focuses on how video creators can utilize monetization as partners in the YouTube Partnership Program. It offers information on the requirements necessary to become a member and step-by-step instructions on how to start monetizing a YouTube channel.
In addition to the tools available on the YouTube platform, one needs to develop an entrepreneurial mindset to create a YouTube channel successfully. The findings of this thesis indicate that one’s attitude and ability to think as an entrepreneur are essential to success. Among the most significant characteristics of an entrepreneurial mindset needed to develop a YouTube channel is a commitment to consistency, having faith in eventual success, resilience, having a good mentor, and openness to structured experimentation.
This thesis presents the process, things learned, and struggles involved in creating and developing Be Bold Harmony (BBH), a YouTube channel created in 2015 and eligible for monetization in 2021. The existence and development of BBH are the results of the willingness for self-improvement, constant learning, and eventually sharing with others, all of which help create a community by the creator of the channel. This paper presents the journey of a YouTube channel, from a personal channel to a YouTube partner, that generates income through light entrepreneurship.
