Tiivistelmä
Thesis commissioner Rengasliike Paussu Oy’s activity has almost tripled in the last three years. With rapid
growth in demand, stock levels have also started to rise as demand has started to be met by increasing
stock levels. However, high stock levels have weakened the liquidity of the company and that is why they
have started to seek solutions to reduce them.
The research was done in the form of a case study and aimed to provide the largest possible picture of
methods for stock control. The aim was to find out the current situation of the company's warehouse management and its development targets and find methods of warehouse management that operate on these
bases to reduce current high levels of stock. The objectives were formulated as four research issues, and
solutions were sought with articles and other sources of information in the field. At first, the knowledge
base was created for the work that was later mirrored in the company’s current state.
As a result, it was found that the company has not paid sufficient attention to warehouse management in
the past and that there were no methods of stock control. The lack of methods also led to insufficient use
of the methods found in the study due to insufficient data. However, a comprehensive description of the
methods to be used by the commissioner for the future implementation of warehouse management was
provided. During the study, a clear development in the sales process from the point of view of the inventory process was also noted and its efficiency gains can be achieved with a clear increase in sales efficiency.
It was concluded that the company should develop its activities from the internal processes’ point of view
in the future, as well as on the collection of information from the warehouse. With these measures, the
company’s inventory management and internal processes will improve efficiency and operations in the future. The results found are therefore very suitable for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, because these companies are the ones struggling with similar problems in terms of warehouse management.
