Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this thesis was to engage students to learn. The aim was to produce a new teaching method for the upper secondary education. The purpose of the new teaching method was to involve students in teaching.
Service design was used as the development method of the thesis and a survey was developed for the users, i.e. the students. The survey aimed to obtain opinions on the lessons and the learning and to develop the teaching methods further. The goal was to have the students actively participating during the lessons and the teachers using new teaching methods to inspire students to participate in the teaching.

For this thesis, a workshop was selected from the service design methods. There were two workshops, one for the teachers and one for the students. An ecosystem map, five why-questions, a stakeholder map, personas with a customer journey map and a service model with a blueprint were used as service design tools. Qualitative and quantitative research methods were used in the survey for students to find out their opinions by using multiple-choice questions as well as open-ended questions. The research setting was based on survey questions about teaching methods, the quality of class work and the meaningfulness of them both.

As a result, a new and valuable teaching method was invented. The new teaching method supports the students, the teachers and the study. It was noticed that the students became more excited about the teaching, it increased their participation in the classroom activities and they showed more respect for the teachers.
