Recruitment is one the most crucial functions in the HR department. This thesis studies the recruitment process of non-Finnish speaking staff in Finnish organizations. The aim here is to shed the light on the importance of diverse work culture in Finnish organizations and to define the quality of a good recruitment process in those organizations. This study will highlight the meaning of the concept of diversity and it ́s man- agement. It will discuss the practices that needs to develop to give a voice for foreign and English-speaking employees in Finland. The study was made to produce a model recruitment plan that gives opportunity to different nationalities and languages in the Finnish job market.
The recruitment process for non-Finnish speakers has its own strengths, benefits, and challenges which every organization needs to put an effort to develop and take into consideration. The first chapter of the thesis will introduce the background and the research questions as well as the interviewed HR managers in Finnish organizations.
The research method used in this thesis is the qualitative research approach through both interviews as a primary data, and online material as a secondary data.
The research results determine the procedures and practices needed to improve the hiring of non-Finnish speaking staff in Finnish companies. It was revealed through the results that accomplishing this goal involves several factors that companies in Finland need to take into consideration.
In conclusion, the thesis shows that hiring of non-Finnish speaking staff requires a plan and strategy and it is a long-term project. It is definitely a way for companies to attract skilled talents , and aa fair opportunity for professionals
