Tiivistelmä
Many nursing students were forced to study remotely at home as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, which has abrupt and significant changes in instructional methods. These students had only occasionally and primarily interacted with their teachers and peers through online studying. Furthermore, the pandemic has reportedly had a negative impact on students' emotional moods and mental health, which is a significant challenge for many nations. They had also expressed feelings of melancholy, loneliness, worry, and tension, which had a negative impact on their ability to learn.

This thesis aims to improve the knowledge of coping strategies for students during the COVID-19 pandemic and introduce methods to cope with. The method of narrative literature review has been used to gather the information needed and conducts the inductive literature review method for analysis. The articles were searched from databases: Academic Search Elite (Ebsco host), PubMed, Google Scholar and through the library web pages of SeAMK Finna. With the method of literature review, fourteen (=14) articles were selected, and then using the method of inductive to draw a coherent summary of coping strategies for nursing students to help improving their mental health.

Results: two main coping strategies were presented according to the findings from these 14 articles. These are social support from family and society, and self-management from within the nursing students. Social support is expanded further into psychological support, physical support, emotional support, stress management program support, religion practice, healthy lifestyle behavior support, family & friends’ support. Self-management encourages maintaining work & study (routine), resilience, physical self-care (adaptability, sense of community, maintaining connection & exercise), emotional management (stay humor, positive, optimistic and transference) in everyday life. Hopefully in the future, this finding can act as a guideline for future preferences for not only students but also teachers and families.
