Tiivistelmä
This thesis aims to investigate timber as a primary building material from the perspective of sustainable development, which encompasses the concept’s three main aspects: economic, social, and environmental. The economic dimension of this investigation explores various strategies employed at the national level across different countries. The environmental aspect of the research addresses the need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions resulting from the use of traditional building materials like concrete and steel in tall buildings. Timber is identified as a viable alternative to these materials. Lastly, the social dimension of this study examines the practices of various companies in relation to human well-being, justice, power, rights, and individual needs. The benefits of using timber for promoting human well-being are also explored.
