Kommunikation och samarbete med nyanlända familjer inom småbarnspedagogiken : en kvalitativ studie

Abstract

Syftet med detta examensarbete var att ta fasta på arbetsmetoder inom småbarnspedagogiken i Österbotten för samarbete och kommunikation med nyanlända familjer. Våra centrala frågeställningar för arbetet var: Varför är det så viktigt med samarbete med vårdnadshavare? Hur arbetar personalen inom småbarnspedagogiken för att få ett smidigare samarbete med vårdnadshavare som varken kan svenska eller finska? Hur ska personalen arbeta för att nyanlända familjer ska vara lika delaktiga och inkluderade i verksamheten som andra?

I arbetet beaktades vilken betydelse ett gott samarbete med vårdnadshavarna har för barnet samt betydelsen av god kommunikation. Vi har speciellt behandlat kommunikationen och samarbetet med vårdnadshavarna i sådana situationer där de inte talar de språk som de professionella gör.

Studien genomfördes som en kvalitativ intervjustudie. Respondenterna i studien var fem professionella som alla arbetar på olika arbetsplatser inom småbarnspedagogiken och i olika kommuner i Österbotten. Undersökningen visade att ett gott samarbete med vårdnadshavarna är viktigt för att barnets tid inom småbarnspedagogiken ska vara så bra som möjligt. Kommunikationen kan bli mer utmanade då vårdnadshavarna och de professionelle pratar olika språk, men undersökningen visade ändå att detta inte är ett hinder för att bygga ett gott samarbete.

The purpose of this thesis is to take note of working methods in early childhood education in Ostrobothnia for cooperation and communication with newly arrived families. Our central questions for our thesis were: Why is cooperation with the caregivers so important? How does the staff in early childhood education work to achieve smoother cooperation with the caregivers who know neither Swedish nor Finnish? How should the staff work to ensure that newly arrived families are as involved and included in the activities as others?

In our work, we considered the importance of good cooperation with the caregivers and what impact it has on the child but also the importance of good communication. We have specially addressed the communication and cooperation with the caregivers in such situations where they do not speak the languages that the professionals do.

The study was conducted as a qualitative interview study. The respondents in the study were five professionals who all work at different workplaces within early childhood education and in different municipality in Ostrobothnia. The survey shows that good cooperation with the guardians is important for the child's time in early childhood education to be as good as possible. Communication can become more challenging when the guardians and the professionals speak different languages, but the survey still shows that this is not an obstacle to building a good collaboration.
