Tiivistelmä
Tämä opinnäytetyö tehtiin kehittämistyönä. Tavoitteena oli kerätä ja koota yhteen ajankohtaista ja hyödyllistä tietoa aistimodulaation käytöstä mielenterveyspalveluissa. Tarkoituksena oli kerätyn tiedon pohjalta laatia suunnitelma aistimodulaatiohuoneesta Turkuun 2024 valmistuvaan uuteen psykiatriseen sairaalaan lastenpsykiatrian asiakasryhmälle. Toimeksiantajana toimi Turun ammattikorkeakoulun liiketoimintapalvelut.
Aistimodulaatio on interventiomenetelmä, jonka avulla voidaan vaikuttaa ihmisen olotilaan. Vireystilaa tai tunnetta voidaan muuttaa aistiärsykkeitä apuna käyttäen. Aistimodulaation käyttö myös mielenterveyskentällä on yleistynyt, ja tutkitusti aistimodulaatio on hyödyllinen menetelmä mielenterveyspalveluissa.
Tietoa aistimodulaation käytöstä ja vaikutuksista lastenpsykiatrisessa hoidossa kerättiin kuvailevan kirjallisuuskatsauksen avulla. Kehittämistyön tuloksena syntyi aistimodulaatiohuoneen suunnitelma, joka toteutettiin esitteen muodossa. Esite sisältää tietoa aistimodulaatiosta sekä suosituksia lastenosastolle sopivista aistivälineistä. This thesis was carried out as a development work. The aim was to collect and compile up-to-date and useful information on the use of sensory modulation in mental health services. Based on the collected data, the aim was to draw up a plan for a sensory modulation room for the children’s unit in a new psychiatric hospital to be completed in Turku in 2024. The thesis was commissioned by the business services of Turku University of Applied Sciences.
Sensory modulation is an intervention method that can be used to influence a person's state of being/feeling. The state of alertness or emotion can be changed with the help of sensory stimuli. The use of sensory modulation in the field of mental health has become more common, and research has shown that sensory modulation is a useful method in mental health services.
Evidence on the use and effects of sensory modulation in child psychiatric care was gathered through a descriptive literature review. As a result of the development work, a proposal for a sensory modulation room was created and executed in the form of a brochure. The brochure contains information on sensory modulation and recommendations for sensory equipment suitable for use in the child psychiatric unit.
