Tiivistelmä
The topic chosen was the increased interest of nurses in the work of a cosmetic nurse. However, there is little research information on this area, even though the job opportunities of a nurse are wide.
The purpose of the thesis is to describe the work of nurses in laser tattoo removal. The aim is to produce information about the work of a nurse as a laser tattoo remover.
The thesis was carried out as a qualitative study. The research material was obtained by interviewing three nurses who work with tattoo removal. The interviews were conducted as theme interviews. Inductive content analysis was used to analyse the data.
In the thesis, it was found out that the work should take the patient into account holistically during the procedure. In addition to this, the procedure requires many different skills. For the measure to be possible, it requires multiprofessional teamwork.
When comparing the results to the theory, it is noticeable how the theory is based more on the procedure itself, the laser technology and the clinical part. However, the results show more of the humanistic part of the work and the importance of the nurse's overall competence as the implementer of the procedure.
With the help of the results, more awareness of the field and of tattoo removal itself can be achieved. In addition, the results can also be used by nurses who consider laser tattoo removal as a profession.
